Family members of an insured person who was employed or self-employed and died as a result of a work injuryWork accident or occupational disease, are entitled to benefits, as well as family members of a volunteer who died as a result of an injury during volunteer activity.
Widow
The wife of the insured man at the time of his death – the benefits are paid to the widow, even if she works or has another source of income.
Widower
A man who was married to the insured woman at the time of her death, and to whom one of the following conditions applies:
He has a child who is also eligible for benefits.

He is unable to support himself.

His monthly income does not exceed NIS 7,146 (as of Jan 01, 2024).
Child
The child of the deceased insured person (including a step-child or adopted child or grandchild whose entire livelihood came from the insured unless married), if s/he is one of the following:
Under the age of 18.
Turned 18 but under 20 years old, and spends most of his/her time (at least 24 hours a week) to complete studies at a secondary school.
Turned 18 but under 20 years old, and has been discharged from a pre-army preparatory framework of IDF. This period is not counted towards the calculation of 36 months from the date of his/her enlistment.
Turned 18 but under 20 years old, and studies in an academic institution (university or college) under a program of study involving at least 20 hours per week.
Turned 18 but under 20 years old, and is serving in the IDF in regular service, according to the Defense Service Law, 1959, for a period of up to 36 months.
Unpaid service in the "Nahal" after enlistment and Hesder service also are considered regular service.
Under the age of 24 and is studying in a soldier-student track recognized by the IDF, and his/her army service has been postponed due to the studies.
Under the age of 21 and is serving as a volunteer in public service according to the conditions set in the regulations for a period not exceeding 12 months, and his/her army service has been postponed due to the volunteer service.
Under the age of 24 and is serving as a national service volunteer in the framework of Haaguda Lehitnadvut Baam, the Jerusalem Municipality, Shlomit, Emuna, or Shalhevet.
Please note:
A youth who has married will stop being eligible for benefits from the day of his/her marriage.
To whom are the benefits paid on behalf of children?
A child who lives in his/her parents’ home and whose parent is not eligible for benefits – The benefits are paid to the parent on behalf of the child. A child over age 18 is eligible to receive the benefits to his/her own account.
A child who does not live in his/her parents’ home – The benefits are paid to the person who pays the child’s expenses, at the recommendation of a rehabilitation worker of the National Insurance Institute.
Children who live in different locations and whose expenses are paid by different people – The benefits shall be divided and paid based on a court decision.
Parents
The parents of the deceased insured person (including an adopted parent or step-parent) are entitled to benefits if one of the following conditions holds:
Most of their livelihood came from the deceased insured person.
They are unable to support themselves and the National Insurance Institute has confirmed that they were entirely or partially dependent on the deceased insured person.
Other relatives
A grandfather, grandmother, brother, or sister of the deceased insured person is entitled to benefits for as long as they are unable to support themselves if both of the following conditions hold:
